About Us
The mission of SoKno City Church is to Love God and Live Sent. We believe God calls His people to gather regularly to worship Him, grow in their faith, and encourage one another. But the church doesn't end when the gathering is over. We are sent to live out our faith and make disciples throughout the week in our homes, workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and wherever God leads us across the world!
Our Core Values
1. We Are Centered On Our Mission (Matthew 22:35-40)
2. We Are A Place to Belong For Everyone Who Walks In Our Gatherings. (Hebrews 13:2)
3. We Are All-In. (Galatians 2:20)
4. We Are INAM (It’s Not About Me) People. (Romans 12:1)
5. We Are For All Generations. (1 Corinthians 12)
6. We Are A Work in Progress. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
7. We Are Radically Generous (Acts 20:35)
Our Church Story
SoKno City Church was originally sent as a church plant from Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in January 2025 to reach the South Knoxville community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In October 2025, the leadership of New Sevier Home Baptist Church voted to merge with the existing congregation of SoKno City Church, forming one church family that now gathers permanently at 1435 Tipton Station Road. On Easter Sunday in April 2026, we officially launched in our newly renovated space as an autonomous, merged congregation. We now gather every Sunday afternoon at 4PM to worship together!
Meet Our Leadership
What is a "Missionary" Intern/Resident?
We believe in raising up leaders to be Sent out to serve in our city and around the world. As we begin as a church, we have a unique opportunity with our Sunday afternoon gathering time to provide young adults from other churches the chance to gain leadership experience without having to leave their home church. These residents and interns commit to multiple Sundays a month to serve at SoKno City in difference capacities, and we're grateful for the kingdom mindset of these leaders to want to serve alongside us and grow as leaders!
Lead Team
What Is the Lead Team?
The Lead Team is here to support our Lead Pastor through prayer, wise counsel, and honest conversation. Together, they help provide perspective and discernment as they navigate the church’s vision, direction, priorities, and overall health. The team is made up of eight people—the Lead Pastor and seven church members—who are committed to spiritual maturity, unity, discretion, and supporting the leadership of SoKno City Church. Members serve for one year and may serve consecutive terms, with each member confirmed by a two-thirds vote of the church.
Simply put, the Lead Team is a trusted group of people who help our Lead Pastor and church leadership think through important decisions and stay healthy and unified along the way. They’re here to pray, provide perspective, ask good questions, and help us move forward together.
